Positano Tee Crochet Pattern
Houses tumbling down to the sea in a cascade of sun-bleached peach, pink and terracotta paint the steep cliffside in bursts of warmth and charm. The narrow streets lined with quaint little boutiques and wisteria-draped cafés offer the ideal afternoon excursion as you lazily stroll through the picturesque village nestled perfectly amongst the hills.
With it’s delicate nature and loose-fitting style, the Positano Tee makes for the perfect companion as you wander down to the pebbled beachfront. Made with comfort in mind, the open, lacy fabric gives multiple options for layering – whether worn with your swimsuit or paired with a loose fitting skirt and sandals for a more relaxed vibe, this tee will adapt to every outfit all summer long.
If you’ve been following me for a while, you’ve most likely realised that I have an affinity with cotton yarns. How could I not? They come in a variety of weights, colors and even mercerized and unmercerized options, making for the ideal fibre to use when whipping up a soft, summer-y garment. This lightweight tee is worked up using just one of Lion Brand’s luxury yarns, the LB Collection Cotton Bamboo. Soft and sleek with beautiful drape, I love the way the definition of this cotton and bamboo blend creates beautifully shaped eyelets within the yoke of this garment.
I’d consider this an easy level crochet pattern, but an ambitious beginner may be able to tackle this one as I’ve also included a ton of how-to photos to help make the learning process all the more enjoyable. To get started right away, check out the free pattern below. As always you can purchase a printable PDF without ads here, or you can purchase the full yarn kit from Lion Brand here.

+ ASSEMBLY

Sweater
Block the finished body of tee to correct height/width. Place the “Front of Tee” on top of the “Back of Tee”, flip the layout inside out, and join the two panels together by seaming ‘Row 1’ to ‘Row 69 [70,71]’ closed, working from the bottom to the top. The remaining openings are the armholes.
Seam the shoulders together (Row 94 [98,102]), working into all 23 [27,33] sts the on the right-side shoulder, and all 23 [27,33] sts the on the left-side shoulder. Leaving the unworked sts of row 94 [98,102] of the body of the tee un-seamed. The remaining opening is the neckline.
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.
Sleeves
Flip each sleeve inside out and seam the sleeves along the ends of the rows, all along the underarm. Seam both sleeves onto the tee, where the armholes are.
Flip your completed tee right side out. Fold-over the cuff of the sleeve 1.5”/4cm, and join the edge of the folded cuff to the sleeve at one point.
Fasten off, and weave in loose ends.
Hope you all enjoy this pattern for a lightweight tee, perfect for layering.

This is just lovely!! Thank you so much for sharing!!!
Rachel says
The length seems quite short. Does the top stretch/hang lower with gravity when put on for wear?
Pamela says

So lovely and clearly it must be comfy.
Jean G says
Love the tee. I have some silver yarn I want to try using. Just a suggestion: have at least one picture with your hair back so we can see the neckline better. Love your patterns. I still consider myself a beginner and am always happy when my work looks like your pictures! And they do!!

Hi,
Can you explain bit details from row 2-69 is the same pattern but why you mention repeat 40 more times in the note. I’m bit confused. If repeat 40 more times it wouldn’t be 69 row.
Thanks
Linda says
She just meant repeat from the * to the next * 40more times, not the row.
Deb says
Row 2 is confusing if you do it 40 more times how can you have 84 stitches at end of row
camike says
She looks so beautiful, I also like the clothes she wears.

I love how pretty and airy this pattern is!! But I have quick question…

Hi Olivia 🌸
Amazing pattern! Thank you for sharing!
I have a question tho.. :
After row 79 and forward I bump into trouble – even though the stitch count is right it looks like the garment is getting bigger and bigger by every row (alternately by row 80-81)
Is it supposed to change its shape because of the sleeves?
You have one picture where it looks like the whole piece should have a very sharp edge.
Looking forward to hear from you.
BR,
Ditte🌸🎄

Why is the pattern not showing?
Laura Waterfield says
Thank you for the beautiful pattern. It is exactly what I am looking for right now.
Hunter says
On rows 2-71, do the hdc go into hdc of past row and sl st into sl st of past row? Or hdc into sl st and sl st into hdc of last row?
Tammy Evans says
I just purchased 5 LBY bamboo skins in lemon! This will be the perfect top to make!!!! Thank you!! <3
Susan says
Is this accurate?….. ‘Row 2-69’……surely that is too wide for a border…..the photo indicates there should only be about 10 rows? Am I not reading this pattern correctly?
Nancy Acevedo says
I completed mine. So pretty. Thank you for excellent instructions and design.

Hi
Is the width per panel 20.5=41” or is it 20.5 in total please? Really wanting to make this but need to know thanks
Lim-Lim Dunn says

Pixie says
I love this top! I’m a great grandma and I’m going to make it for myself! Everything I make I give it to others, but not this time:)
Dru says
I’m having the same challenge. The stitch and pattern is a lot tighter than in the photos. I’m thinking to use a 4.5mm hook rather than 4mm specified in the pattern.
Denise Paquette says
I am making this with Truboo bamboo yarn, 241 yds for 100 g. I did a sample, and the gauge was super close (just under 4″ for 20 rows by about 1/16″) The drape is beautiful. However, the pattern seems tighter than any of your photos. Can you give me an idea of the gauge for the pattern stitch? I don’t want to start over, or buy a different yarn, but will if needed. It is really slow going.

I’m having the same challenge. The stitch and pattern is a lot tighter than in the photos. I’m thinking to use a 4.25 or4.5mm hook rather than 4mm specified in the pattern?
Kelly says
HI, I am starting on the back of the sweater. If you do row 1 all the way to row 96 it is single crochet for the back. In the pictures it shows the back looking just like the front. Am I reading the pattern wrong?
